The Cascade Hotel, located in South Hobart, is an historic hotel, bistro and bar. It's easy to see why this spot is a regular haunt for many Hobartians - the bistro provides a relaxing atmosphere, friendly and accommodating hospitality along with great value for money. Even on a cold Sunday night in the middle of a school term, you'll find the pub and bistro packed with diners. You can order traditional pub grub such as steaks, fish 'n' chips, schnitzels and roast of the day or you can try something a little more adventurous like braised venison casserole and wallaby burger. The portion sizes are humungous and it's clear they only use quality ingredients - the seafood topping on "The Northumberland" (The Cascade's take on surf 'n' turf) consists of plump Tassie scallops, decent-sized tiger prawns (not those tiny little ones you too often get at pubs!) and squid.
