Southport Lagoon
Southport Lagoon Southport Lagoon is now only accessible by three options: boat, on foot and 4WD. 4WD access is via the Southport Lagoon track that starts near Ida bay. The hiking track is via Ida bay railway and brings you in at the beach at the northern end of the lagoon. Boating brings you in at the neck of the lagoon however there is also beach access that is all along the neck beach line. It's not advisable to bring vessels in through the neck to Southport Lagoon therefore if you wish to have a boat or kayak in the lagoon for fishing, the preferred option is to bring it in via the Southport Lagoon 4WD track. Near the campsites, there is a natural (hand only) boat ramp to launch your vessel. There is one small beach location on the northern side of the lagoon, while the rest of the foreshore is either grasslands or rock.
