The Commercial Hotel is located in Cygnet, approximately 54km south of Hobart. This cosy country pub is known to locals as "the bottom pub" to geographically distinguish it from "the top pub" at the other end of Cygnet. The Commercial has two eateries - a bistro/restaurant to the rear of the hotel and a café at the front of the hotel which is a more casual environment and offers takeaway and ready made meals. The focus of this review is on the bistro/restaurant. The food at The Commercial is really delicious and excellent value for money. The meals are hearty and generous. We started off with the cheese and garlic bread which had plenty of cheese and garlic and was a great dish to share. The seafood chowder with sourdough was a huge size for an entrée - it would certainly do as a main for most people. The chowder itself was creamy and packed full of diced white fish and diced prawns.
