The Waterfront Hotel is located in Bellerive, approximately 6km from Hobart.

The Waterfront Hotel's bistro overlooks the picturesque Kangaroo Bay.

Diners can choose to sit in the indoor dining room or on the balcony, which is enclosed by strong clear plastic to protect diners from the weather, while sill allowing diners to take in the view.

The extensive menu is complemented by an ever-changing specials board, so diners are bound to find something that tickles their fancy.

The pub loaf with dukkah, extra virgin olive oil and garlic butter is a great way to start a meal at The Waterfront.

The pub loaf is fresh and warm and has plenty of accompaniments, so you shouldn't run out.

The garlic pizza has loads of cheese and garlic and is great to share between a few people.

There are a number of schnitzels and parmigianas on the menu.

We've enjoyed the chicken schnitzel with gravy and the garlic prawn parmigiana.

The chicken was thick and succulent and the breadcrumb coating was crunchy.

The garlic prawn topping features a generous portion of plump prawns.

The menu features a roast of the day, which is great for those colder days.

The lamb roast with all the trimmings was comforting and satisfying.

The slow cooked lamb shank with creamy mash, roasted seasonal vegetables and red wine jus is another great dish for a chilly day.

The lamb fell off the bone and the veggies were beautifully cooked.

If you're after something a little lighter, the haloumi salad is a great option. The combination of the fresh leaves, toasted pine nuts and zesty lemon dressing balanced the richness of the grilled haloumi.

We've also had a chicken Caesar salad, which featured on the specials board one day.

The lettuce was crispy and fresh and when we sliced into the poached egg on top, golden yolk oozed out onto the salad.

The salt and pepper squid with chips and salad were tender and tasty.

One day the specials board featured a trio of slow cooked brisket, served in a taco, a slider and pie form with chips, salad and corn on the cob.

This dish was a delight! The brisket was tender and the taco, pie and slider were all perfectly cooked, which is rare for medley dishes. The corn on the cob was smoky and juicy and a great addition to the dish.

The dessert menu focuses on traditional desserts such as crumble, pavlova and golden syrup dumplings. We loved the golden syrup dumplings. The fresh fruit elevated this simple, yet satisfying, dish and cut through the richness and sweetness.
