The Horny Cray is located in the east coast village of Swansea, approximately 135km north-east of Hobart and approximately 154km south-east of Launceston.

While The Horny Cray may have a funny name, it takes its seafood very seriously.

The Horny Cray is known for its variety of fresh and cooked seafood. You can choose from fresh oysters, fresh crayfish rolls, curried scallop pies, seafood pizzas and lots more. The menu also features a number of non-seafood items as well.

We often drop by for a quick seafood lunch whenever we're in the neighbourhood. It's located on the main street of Swansea and we usually don't have any trouble finding a parking spot big enough for the car and camper trailer/caravan.

This takeaway shop is busy year-round serving locals and tourists and it's easy to see why - the ingredients are fresh, locally sourced where possible and treated with respect.

We love a box of mixed crumbed/battered seafood, so we always choose one packed with fish fillets, local scallops, prawns and calamari.

We've always found the fish fillets to be beautifully flaky and the scallops to be plump and juicy.

The prawns and calamari are always tender and the crunch outer coating never disappoints.

We've also really enjoyed the crayfish rolls as well. The bread rolls are fresh and soft and the crayfish is sweet and juicy. The seafood sauce doesn't overpower the delicate cray flesh.

You can either sit outside the shop on the stools and bench, allowing you to tuck straight into your food, or you can take it across the road to the park or the beach - just watch those cheeky seagulls, they love The Horny Cray's food too!
