Pig Island

PUFF-O-METRE

Level 1 out of 5 - Easy

OVERVIEW

This stunning walk is located along the river banks of Latrobe. Coming from the South-Eastern side of the town, take the right turn just before the bridge called River Road. 200m along that road is the main carpark to the parks on the left hand side. Walk through the main gates and take the bridge to the left across to Pig Island.

The trail is a loop around the edge of the island. There are sections that branch off to allow you to cut across the island to avoid having to do the full island loop if you prefer not to. Most of the island is dog off leads access however you are still required to be able to control you dog at all times therefore it's advised that you keep them on a lead to be safe.

The trail is a mixture of boardwalk, gravel path and open grass plains. It has stunning sections through trees, views of the flowing river and a huge open grassland area that's perfect for a picnic.
