Mathinna Falls

PUFF-O-METRE

OVERVIEW

Finding the falls with Mathinna as your starting point is fairly simple as they have signs guiding you at every road junction. Take Mathinna Plains Road, then right into Claytons Road for about 200m, then left into Mathinna Falls Road and take this for about 12km to the end where you'll be met with a large carpark. There is a toilet at this carpark, at the start of the trail head. Please note the roads are unsealed and can be rough depending on when a grader has last been through.

The falls are in state forest reserve rather than national park therefore you're allowed to take your pup along for this walk, just make sure they are on a lead and you pick up after them.

The trail to the first set of falls is beautifully made with a combination of dirt, gravel and leaf litter. It's very easy going and finishes at the lower Mathinna Falls. This is worth the hike alone however if you're mobile and don't mind heights, then you can follow a second trail to the right of the falls that will have you seeing the other sets of falls.... Yes sets 😊 there are a number of falls above the first one. This trail to see them is marked out with pink tape on trees at intervals BUT please only do it if you're experienced as it's a rather challenging addition. We've added photos of these falls to help you decide whether you want to make that extra trip or settle for the lovely first falls.
