Port Arthur General Store and Takeaways

Port Arthur General Store and Takeaways is located in Port Arthur, approximately 95km South-East of Hobart.

We've called in to Port Arthur General Store and Takeaways a number of times because they offer a wide range of great quality, casual takeaway food that's reasonably priced.

One chilly day we ordered a cheeseburger, a bacon and cheese burger and some chips for lunch.

The burger rolls were gloriously soft and fresh and the beef patties were excellent quality - juicy with no fat or gristly bits whatsoever.

The chips were wrapped up in butchers paper and were crispy golden.

Port Arthur General Store and Takeaways is also open at night which is particularly convenient when you're holidaying in the area but don't feel like going out to a restaurant for dinner.

One night we visited the store to pick up a pizza we had ordered. We were pleasantly surprised how busy the store was, especially for a cold, dark evening.

The supreme pizza was amazing. It was huge, packed full of toppings and piping hot. It tasted like it came from a pizza joint.

We've also enjoyed a Hawaiian chicken burger, bacon and egg roll and some hash browns which we picked up for brunch on the go.

The chicken was crispy had a crispy outer crumb and was juicy on the inside, while the bacon and pineapple added some saltiness and sweetness and the mayonnaise gave it some tang. Once again, the bread roll was soft, light and fresh.

The bacon and egg roll was served on an English muffin and it was the perfect size to eat while on the go. All of the ingredients were cooked with care.

The hash browns were heavenly.

They were gorgeously crispy on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside.
