Southport Hotel

Southport Hotel is located in Southport, approximately 96km South of Hobart.

It forms part of the Caravan Park complex and the restaurant overlooks the beautiful bushy grounds of the park.

The pub-style meals served in the restaurant are hearty and generous.

With two wood fires to warm the bar and restaurant, the atmosphere is cosy and welcoming.

The wood fire in the restaurant is surrounded by two lounges, which make for the perfect area to relax and enjoy a drink.

We started off our dinner with some cheesy garlic bread. The bread melted in our mouths, but still had a good amount of crispiness.

For mains we had chicken schnitzel and chips, topped with prawns, scallops and a garlic sauce.

The prawns and scallops were plump and juicy and the garlic sauce was absolutely amazing. It was buttery without being oily and had lots of garlic (which we love!).

We also had grilled chicken breast with bacon, garlic sauce and vegetables.

The grilled chicken was thick, yet succulent and the vegetables were tasty and perfectly cooked. The potatoes were soft and helped soak up the sauce.

The sauce was creamier than the sauce that accompanied the chicken schnitzel, but equally amazing.

On another occasion we had beef schnitzel topped with the same garlic seafood topper as the chicken schnitzel.

The beef was tender (no chewiness at all!) and the crispy panko outer shell was golden and crunchy.

Garlic prawns with rice, chips and salad was the other meal we indulged in.

The prawns were large and plump and the buttery garlic sauce was to die for. The salad was fresh while adding a bit of texture to the dish.

We only managed to fit dessert in on one occasion (the main meals are that big!) so we decided on sticky date pudding and a chocolate sundae.

Both desserts were simple but delicious. The sticky date pudding was moist and rich.

We recommend you head to Southport Hotel to experience the warm hospitality, huge portions and amazing garlic sauce!
