St Helens RSL

The bistro at St Helens RSL Ex-Servicemen's & Citizens Club is located in St Helens, approximately 165km East of Launceston.

St Helens RSL is a great place for locals and travellers alike to enjoy a hearty meal in a welcoming and unassuming setting.

We've dined at the bistro a couple of times after jam-packed days of adventuring and on both occasions we have left full and satisfied.

For starters, we had the garlic bread, which was soft and buttery, with just the right amount of garlic.

The seafood chicken parmi which was topped with a couple of decent-sized prawns, squid and a creamy garlic sauce.

The chicken was thick and juicy. The outer shell of the chicken and the chips were wonderfully crispy.

The roast of the day, lamb, was warming and nourishing.

It was covered in gravy (we love places that don't skimp on the sauces!) and accompanied by roasted and steamed veggies.

The fisherman's basket didn't disappoint. It was generous in size and contained battered fish, salt and pepper squid and battered prawns with chips and salad.

The seafood was tender and the batter was crispy.

The lamb shank with creamy mashed potato, peas and gravy was outstanding.

The lamb fell off the bone and melted in our mouth.

The desserts were simple and nostalgic.

We enjoyed panna cotta with a berry coulis and a tower of whipped cream.

The panna cotta was creamy and delicate.

We also had the chocolate sundae which was creamy and delicious.
