Seagrass Long Point

Seagrass Long Point is a waterfront café/restaurant located at Sandy Bay, approximately 6km South of Hobart.

Seagrass has enviable views of the River Derwent and is a lovely spot to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Seagrass offers indoor and outdoor (both covered and uncovered) dining and dogs are welcome in the outdoor uncovered area.

We've dined at Seagrass for breakfast and lunch and the food has been delicious on each occasion.

For breakfast we had a mixed berry smoothie, chocolate milkshake and a chai latte. The mixed berry smoothie was fruity, thick and refreshing. The chocolate milkshake was creamy and rich and the chai latte was creamy and smooth with the perfect balance of spices.

The Mexican corncakes with grilled haloumi, poached egg, avocado salsa and coriander and herb crema were delightful. The dish was fresh, zingy and flavoursome.

The poached eggs on sourdough toast with bacon and smoked salmon were tasty and satisfying.

The poached eggs in both dishes were cooked beautifully. The golden yolks oozed like lava when sliced open.

For lunch we had the seafood and king prawn pasta with calamari, white fish, clams, chilli, seasonal herbs and lemon butter sauce. We asked for the chilli to be omitted due to allergies and the chefs happily accommodated this request.

The pasta was cooked al dente and the seafood was plentiful and plump. This was a lovely dish to enjoy while overlooking the water.

We also had the Seagrass chicken burger, with charcoal burger bun, avocado, cheese, aioli, lettuce, bacon, onion jam and fat boy chips. This was a really tasty meal. The grilled chicken was juicy and the onion jam added a bit of sweetness. The ingredients complemented each other really well and the thick fat boy chips were heavenly.

We finished our meal with some light and fluffy scones with jam and cream.

Seagrass is a great place for locals and tourists to visit. The views are amazing and the food is really enjoyable. There's also a stair lift to assist those patrons who need assistance climbing stairs.
