St Columba Falls

PUFF-O-METRE

Overview

St Columba Falls is arguably the most iconic waterfall in the area. At nearly 90M high, it's one of the largest falls in Tasmania. Getting there is fairly straight forward with plenty of road signs to help guide you especially if you are coming from St Helens. Drive to Pyengana and then take a left onto St Columba Falls Road. Follow this to the end where there is plenty of parking available and toilet facilities.

The walk itself is a fairly easy trail that has you enjoying the lovely cool rainforest feel as the overhead foliage transforms your day into a cool, green and earthy smelling environment. On a hot day, it gives you a reprieve from the skin-burning sun yet on a wet day, the environmental conditions are amplified.

We suggest that it's not suitable for prams however if you have two adults for assistance and/or an off road pram then we cant see it being an issue as there is only a couple of small areas where the path isn't as smooth as your concrete pathway that you'd find in town.

Once you reach the end of the trail, there is a large viewing platform that shows off this massive set of falls in all its beauty. It offers a view of huge cliffs for the water to fall down and then a series of smaller falls near the viewing platform.
