Meresta Eatery

Meresta Eatery is located in Binalong Bay in the world famous Bay of Fires, approximately 175km East of Launceston.

This casual chic eatery is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and has stunning water views.

For breakfast we sat outside on the covered balcony and even though it was a cloudy day, the view was still gorgeous.

We started off with a chocolate milkshake and a chai latte. Both drinks were lovely and creamy. The chocolate milkshake was rich and chocolatey while the chai had just the right amount of spice in its sweetness.

The brisket hash pot was a lovely little baked dish filled with tender beef brisket, fried potato, egg, cheese, capsicum and onion and a crispy slice of sourdough on the side for crunch. This deceptively filling dish was great because it was something a bit different from the usual breakfast options we come to expect.

We also had the big brekkie, which lived up to its name - eggs, bacon rashers, pork sausage, mushroom, grilled tomato, hash browns, relish and sourdough. The poached eggs were beautifully runny and creamy. All in all, a very satisfying and hearty dish, perfect for a hungry diner.

Dinner at Meresta is something special. The changing pink and orange hues put on quite a show as the evening progressed. It was absolutely memerising.

Dinner began with a glass of Tassie sparkling and local 'Lease 65' oysters kilpatrick. The oysters were plump and tasty and paired beautifully with the sparkling. It was a glorious way to start the evening.

For mains we enjoyed a crayfish roll with chips and salt and pepper squid with chips and salad.

The crayfish was mixed in a creamy, herbed mayonnaise and was treated with great respect. The mayonnaise didn't overpower the sweetness of the crayfish.

The salt and pepper squid was tender and had just the right amount of zing.

For desserts we had apple crumble with vanilla ice cream and golden syrup dumplings with vanilla ice cream.

Both desserts were warm and comforting, but not too sweet.

The dessert portions were on the smaller size, but this was probably a good thing given our earlier indulgences.

Meresta Eatery also offers takeaway coffees and meals, including pizzas cooked in the wood-fired pizza oven.
