Belles Burgers
Belles Burgers occupies a gorgeous spot in an historic waterfront building, with the front of the restaurant enjoying views of Kangaroo Bay, Bellerive Quay and beyond.
Belles offers an array of burgers including beef burgers, fried chicken burgers, a Korean bbq roasted pork belly burger, a mushroom burger called the 'Shroom', a haloumi burger called the 'Loom' as well as changing specials.
We loved the 'Classic' burger, which had a beef patty, cheese, pickles, onion, mustard and ketchup. The brioche bun was soft with a bit of sweetness, the beef was tasty and the pickles, onion and mustard added a bit of 'zing' to cut through the richness of the burger patty.
We've also added bacon to a 'Classic' burger which complemented the burger really well and made it a bit more substantial on a day when we were hungry!
The 'O.G. Chook' burger had fried buttermilk tenders, cos, tomato, pickles, burger sauce and it was amazing. The crispiness of the fried chicken contrasted with the squishiness of the brioche bun and the cos gave it a bit of extra crunch and freshness.
While burgers are the specialty at Belles, they also offer a quesadilla, fried buttermilk chicken tenders, buffalo cauliflower nuggets, cauliflowers tacos, mac and cheese with bbq pork belly and a variety of wings.
We loved the fried buttermilk chicken tenders. The chicken itself was moist and the outer shell was seasoned and crunchy with a very subtle kick to it (but certainly not to the point of being spicy).
There a few different types of loaded fries to try. We had the jalapeño fries which was also topped with runny melted cheese. They were amazing and almost a meal in themselves.
Belles is licensed, so in addition to the usual drinks you would expect at a burger joint, you can order an alcoholic beverage.
When we went (in winter), they had a mulled cider special, which was really flavoursome and warming on a cold day.
We've also enjoyed their chocolate milkshakes, which were creamy and rich.
