Ashmore on Bridge Street
Ashmores is located in a beautiful old building. The décor and food are both cosy and welcoming.
We've dropped into Ashmores on many occasions to enjoy some scones, jam and cream.
We've always found the scones to be warm, light and fluffy, accompanied by just the right amount of jam and an impressive helping of whipped cream.
The great thing about Ashmores is its all day menu, so if you feel like poached eggs on sourdough toast with bacon and homemade relish for lunch, you can have it!
The pancakes with lemon and sugar, ice cream and cream were delicious. The pancakes were perfect for us - light, but without being too thick or rich.
For lunch, we had the chicken potted pie with chunky chips and garden salad.
The delicate filo top gave the dish a wonderful crunch and the pie filling was divine - rich, nourishing and packed full of chicken, bacon and vegetables. This dish was just what the doctor ordered on a cool Tassie day.
Ashmores also has a great range of cakes and biscuits for those that need something sweet to go with their coffee.
You can also pick up some jams, fudges and other treasures to take home.
