The Wharf Bar & Kitchen
The Wharf Bar & Kitchen occupies an enviable waterfront position on the wharf and serves delicious food.
The interior of this restaurant is beautiful. At night it is romantic and atmospheric - the lights twinkle and create a lovely mood.
The restaurant focuses on local Tasmanian produce and praises its producers in the menu.
We enjoyed the house made flat bread with a trio of house dips. The flat bread was warm and doughy on the inside with just the right amount of crisp and char on the outside.
The baked king prawns with honey miso glaze and sesame was a treat - the prawns were juicy and the honey miso glaze was tasty and well balanced.
The pan seared scallops with cream of corn was also a great dish. The fresh scallops were plump and flavoursome and the cream of corn added some sweetness.
The lobster gnocchi with lemon butter, capers and pecorino was delicate and delicious. The lobster was sweet and juicy and the gnocchi was pillow soft.
We also had some confit hasselback potatoes with Bay of Fires cheddar and Meadow Valley crème fraiche as a side dish and they were decadently creamy and soft.
The desserts were beautifully presented.
The Bombe Alaska with cherry syrup, Valhalla Ferrero Rocher and torched meringue was rich yet light and had a wonderful choc-hazelnut flavour.
The homemade cheesecake with lemon curd and Meander Valley cream was gloriously creamy and lemony.
We recommend you book a window seat in the restaurant for lunch or dinner to experience the amazing food and spectacular view and atmosphere.
