BIG4 St Helens Holiday Park is located in St Helens, approximately 165km East of Launceston.

BIG4 St Helens offers a range of different accommodation types to suit all budgets, including powered sites, unpowered sites, ensuite sites, valley view units, family cabins, studio units, family budget cabins and mountain bike (MTB) bunkhouse accommodation.

Some sites have concrete bases, others have natural grass bases and there are also sites that have Tuff Turf Evergreen (fake grass).

We've stayed in an ensuite site which gave us the luxury of our own shower and toilet. The ensuite was clean, light and we loved the convenience of having our own toilet and shower right at our site. The site itself was spacious and had a base of Tuff Turf Evergreen, which was great because we didn't have to unpack our Muk Mat!

Dogs are welcome to stay with their owners in powered and unpowered sites and dogs are even welcome in the budget cabins. 

During your stay, you'll probably see one of the resident dogs either snoozing in the reception area or out doing the rounds!

The MTB bunkhouse accommodation is housed in trendy-looking shipping containers. 

Each bunkhouse has two king single beds, an air conditioning system, tv and loads of storage for mountain biking gear. We loved the simple, fresh and comfy décor.


The shared toilet and shower facilities are just a few steps away from each bunkhouse and the ratio of bunkhouses to facilities means you won't ever have to wait long (if at all), even during busy times.

The bunkhouse accommodation is very reasonably priced, and gives you all the comforts of a motel room, and more. 

The MTB bunkhouse accommodation is brilliant for adventurers who need a comfy place to crash at the end of each day. For this reason, we see the lack of windows as a blessing in disguise - we always sleep better in complete darkness.

BIG4 St Helens caters well for the growing mountain bike industry with the provision of a wash down bay, maintenance bay and bike storage area situated right next to the mountain bike bunkhouse area. There is also a large outdoor firepit and outdoor kitchen with a woodfired pizza oven which makes for a great place for mountain bike enthusiasts to share their stories after a day of riding the trails. 

BIG4 St Helens tells us that all park guests are welcome to use the outdoor firepit and kitchen, not just those staying in the mountain bike bunkhouse accommodation.

BIG4 St Helens also has a few mountain bikes for hire and a shuttle bus service.

The facilities at BIG4 St Helens are fantastic. In addition to the facilities in the mountain bike area, there is also a large indoor camp kitchen and tv room, outdoor gas barbeques and benches, an indoor play centre and cinema, a large outdoor play area and a huge outdoor jumping pillow - we highly recommend a bounce on the jumping pillow!

The amenities are clean and modern and there are plenty of coin-operated washing machine and clothes dryers as well as outdoor clothes lines in the laundry area.

BIG4 St Helens is currently putting the finishing touches on its new glamping (glamourous camping) accommodation, which is scheduled to open in about September 2022. This will be an exciting luxurious addition to the park, which we can't wait to stay in!

  Drift Away Organic Shack is a peaceful retreat for two located in Police Point, approximately 73km south of Hobart. Ideal for a couple, this cute studio has stunning views of the Huon River. The shack is located on the owner's residential property, but as the main house is set well behind the shack, the house and its inhabitants go unnoticed.  Crescent Bay, Mount Brown and Remarkable Cave PUFF-O-METRE   THEN OVERVIEW This is a beautiful day walk that follows some rugged coast line, stunning views and ends at a gorgeous beach with huge dunes. It starts at a large carpark, but it needs to be as this area is a very popular location. The carpark has a lovely viewing platform for some of the coastal cliffs. It also has shelter and public toilets available. Before setting off towards Crescent Bay, it's worth the ten minute delay to head down the staircase to enjoy the view at the Remarkable Cave. It's a bit like a horizontal blowhole however it's far more open therefore you don't get the big burst of water upwards. With that done, it's time to head along the other track towards Crescent Bay. This track is a bit up and down however the elevation doesn't change more than 20m so at no stage does it feel overwhelming.
