Strahan Holiday Retreat

Strahan Holiday Retreat is a peaceful, leafy holiday park located in the west coast village of Strahan, approximately 270km south-west of Launceston.

This holiday park is a short, one-block stroll to West Strahan Beach and is positioned under the shade of the natural bush canopy, making it a tranquil place to relax.

Strahan's town centre is approximately 1km away, and the flat, waterfront footpath into the town centre makes for a pleasant, easy walk.

A member of the Big 4 Holiday Parks chain, this holiday park offers cottages, cabins and powered and unpowered sites.

The powered and unpowered sites are positioned all around the park and offer either shady, tree-covered areas or more open, sunnier locations.

If cabin or cottage accommodation takes your fancy, there are lots of different options to suit the size of your travelling party and budget.

There is a creek that runs in and around the holiday park, which makes for a perfect spot to try and spot the resident platypus.

According to the Strahan Holiday Retreat website, dogs are welcome  to stay in the un-serviced sites. However the Big 4 website indicates the holiday park is not pet friendly. We contacted the holiday park directly and they verbally confirmed that depending on the size of the dog, dogs are welcome, but only in the un-serviced (unpowered) sites. The reason why dogs are not permitted in the powered sites, is because those sites are smaller than the un-serviced sites and the holiday park wants to ensure all of its customers have an enjoyable stay. The holiday park is also conscious of the resident platypus that inhabit the creek on the property. If you are travelling with a dog, we suggest you phone the holiday park directly for clarification depending on your particular circumstances.

The amenities are clean and well maintained and there are barbeques, outdoor furniture, a games room and two coin-operated laundries, one of which is located on the street frontage and appears to be available for anyone to use.

There is a bottle shop and small dine-in and takeaway food shop (which also has some basic groceries available for purchase) located on the street frontage at the entrance to the holiday park. You can also hire kayaks and bikes from the holiday park.

Strahan Holiday Retreat is a lovely peaceful place to stay while exploring the wild west coast.
