Huon Valley Caravan Park is a peaceful riverside caravan park located in Huonville, approximately 38km south of Hobart.

This huge caravan park offers unpowered sites, powered sites, premium riverside powered sites and ensuite sites.

The premium riverside powered sites are situated on the banks of Mountain River, but still allow plenty of room for other guests to walk along the banks without intrusion.

This is a dog friendly caravan park and it's great to see dogs walking around the park with their owners. Owners must pay a pet bond, which is refunded upon departure provided the pets don't cause any damage.

There is also a dedicated off-leash area for dogs, which although isn't fully fenced, is a fantastic large area for dogs to stretch their legs.

Huon Valley Caravan Park offers direct access to Mountain River (which flows into the mighty Huon River) and a calm area for swimming and/or kayaking. 

Confident kayakers have the option of venturing a little further afield.

The caravan park has cows, sheep, chickens and ducks living on the property and holds daily farmyard demonstrations (such as milking a cow) which are interactive and fun for the kids.

Guests can also watch the friendly staff feed the resident Tassie Devils at 4pm each day.

The amenities block is one of the best amenities blocks we've seen. The facilities are modern and regularly cleaned.

The showers are coin-operated and $1 buys you 4 minutes.

The camp kitchen is spacious and has ample seating, hotplates, microwaves, a fridge and a huge tv.



There are fire pits dotted throughout the park, as well as outdoor chairs and tables. 



Guests can bring their own fire pits however to preserve the lush green grass, they must be elevated off the ground.


One thing to note is Huon Valley Caravan Park doesn't take bookings - it operates on a "first come, first served" basis.





Huon Valley Caravan Park is beautiful and peaceful and well worth a stay when you are in the Huon Valley.

  Drift Away Organic Shack is a peaceful retreat for two located in Police Point, approximately 73km south of Hobart. Ideal for a couple, this cute studio has stunning views of the Huon River. The shack is located on the owner's residential property, but as the main house is set well behind the shack, the house and its inhabitants go unnoticed.  Crescent Bay, Mount Brown and Remarkable Cave PUFF-O-METRE   THEN OVERVIEW This is a beautiful day walk that follows some rugged coast line, stunning views and ends at a gorgeous beach with huge dunes. It starts at a large carpark, but it needs to be as this area is a very popular location. The carpark has a lovely viewing platform for some of the coastal cliffs. It also has shelter and public toilets available. Before setting off towards Crescent Bay, it's worth the ten minute delay to head down the staircase to enjoy the view at the Remarkable Cave. It's a bit like a horizontal blowhole however it's far more open therefore you don't get the big burst of water upwards. With that done, it's time to head along the other track towards Crescent Bay. This track is a bit up and down however the elevation doesn't change more than 20m so at no stage does it feel overwhelming.
