Longford Riverside Caravan Park
Longford Riverside Caravan Park
Longford Riverside Caravan Park is located on the banks of the Macquarie River in Longford, approximately 22km south of Launceston.
We recommend you stay on a riverfront site. The view is fantastic and it is magical to sit back and listen to the flowing river while watching the resident ducks waddle by.
With direct access to the river, the caravan park has a boat ramp, so many people bring kayaks and even small boats, but due to the strong and dangerous river currents, swimming is not permitted.
This is fairly large caravan park, with 100 powered sites and 50 unpowered sites, but it doesn't feel too busy or crowded. The grassy expanses create natural boundaries between the sites.
There are unpowered camping sites available as well as a few onsite caravans for those that want to stay in a caravan, but don't have their own.
The unpowered campsite area (and adjacent powered site area) doesn't feel like a typical caravan park.
There are plenty of outdoor seats and benches scattered around the caravan park so you can sit outside and enjoy the tranquility.
There are two undercover barbeque huts and small firepots (with wood) can either be purchased or hired. If you forget to bring the marshmallows, it's only a short stroll to Longford shops.
There is a laundry available for guests to use, with coin operated washing machines.
The amenities are clean and although a little dated, well maintained.
There is a small cost to use the showers - a very reasonable 20 cents per 3.5 minutes - and although this may seem to be an inconvenience, it helps deter water wastage.
We think Longford Riverside Caravan Park is one of the most picturesque caravan parks in Tasmania. The next time you are travelling near Launceston, call in and experience it for yourself.
