The Kermandie Hotel
The Kermandie Hotel
The Kermandie offers patrons a number of dining options - devonshire tea each afternoon in the lounge, counter meals in the restored bar and three course meals in the large dining room or on the outdoor deck overlooking the marina.
The combination of dark wooden furniture and regal red walls and carpet in the bar creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making it the perfect place to enjoy a hearty feed and a Tassie beverage to wash it down. There are plenty of tables in the bar area, nautical photos and mementos adorning the walls, a wood fireplace to keep you warm on a chilly winter's day and a pool table. The full restaurant menu is also available in the bar area, with many locals preferring the ambience and character of the bar to the more formal dining room.
The bar menu showcases an extensive menu of tasty pub staples such as seafood chowder, burgers, schnitzels and roast of the day. The Asian inspired sizzling squid or sizzling chicken with noodles and shredded veggies is particularly delicious and is quickly whisked out to the table by the staff on a sizzling cast iron plate resulting in the most amazing smoky aroma wafting through the bar.
The restaurant menu also offers a range of classics as well as extensive chef specials such as hot smoked salmon, seafood platter for two, oysters kilpatrick, pan seared Tassie oysters and prawns, hazelnut crumbed King Island brie and Tasmanian prime beef rib eye. It is wonderful to see an emphasis on fresh Tassie produce.
The only challenge with this pub is ensuring you leave enough room for dessert! The plating of the desserts makes you want to loosen your belt a couple of notches and dive in!
All of the meals are generously portioned and presented with care. The staff are attentive and friendly and provide great service during these challenging Covid-19 times.
