Myrtle Gully Track

Myrtle Gully Track

PUFF-O-METRE

OVERVIEW

This track starts at the end of Old Farm Road in South Hobart just a kilometre or so behind the famous Cascade Brewery. The carpark only has room for a couple of vehicles however 50m back down Old Farm Road is an overflow carpark on a grassy paddock.

The track starts off relatively easy with only a small increase in elevation as you find yourself consumed with beautiful thick bushland. The track follows Guy Fawkes Rivulet most of the way which gives you not only lovely water flowing sounds, but also displays a large number of small waterfalls. Located at 450m and 500m on the track are two unique and impressive waterfalls.

Secret Falls is the first that you come across with a small path leading off the main track to take you to the base of this spectacular fall. Further up the track, you're met with the beauty of Myrtle Gully Falls. This can be enjoyed via the bridge at the base of the falls and then from above as you progress along Myrtle Gully Track.

Once you've passed the second of the falls, the track closes in on you while rapidly increasing in elevation. You still get the pleasure of frequent views of a number of small falls as you climb the track, but none quite as impressive as the large two that have already been witnessed. The track finishes at a junction where you can either retrace your steps back down or take the Old Farm Track back to a central meeting point of the carpark.
