Customs House Hotel Restaurant

 Customs House Hotel Restaurant

Customs House Hotel Restaurant is located in the heart of Hobart's historic waterfront area.

Known for being a popular watering hole for thirsty sailors after completing the infamous Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, the beautiful sandstone venue overlooks the River Derwent and provides both indoor and outdoor bars, accommodation and a restaurant that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

We get the feeling this restaurant is sometimes overlooked by locals due to its popularity with tourists and sailors, however having eaten dinner at the restaurant a couple of times in recent months, we can wholeheartedly say the food is absolutely delicious and well worth a visit.

There are plenty of hearty pub staples on the menu such as fish & chips, steak, salt & pepper squid, and an abundance of seafood dishes such as seafood chowder (a personal favourite of ours - it was so creamy and tasty) and chilled seafood platter for two.

The menu also offers an array of interesting and tasty modern Australian dishes such as wallaby schnitzel, red chimmichurri chicken and dukkah spiced lamb rump which elevates the restaurant above the usual pub bistro status.

The dishes are beautifully presented and generously portioned...an uncommon combination!

The restaurant also celebrates Tassie seasonal produce throughout the year with crayfish specials and the appropriately named 'Scallop Fest'.

The desserts are plated with finesse and are perfectly balanced so they are not too sweet.

We haven't tried breakfast at Customs House yet, but we'll be sure to let you know when we do!

    1. The first one is a deconstructed Sunday titles fallen waffle cone and then the first meal in the photos is a seafood risotto
